LONDON (AFP) - Nigerian man who was educated in London and charged with trying to blow up a U.S. plane returned to the UK banned earlier this year, one government source confirmed on Saturday.Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab (23) suspected to have lectures in the field of mechanical engineering at University College London (UCL) between 2005 and 2008 and, according to one newspaper report, tried to return to England in May.

According to a report in The Sunday Times, which was confirmed by a government source, the UK Border Agency has refused to give visas to Abdulmutallab for a period of six months because of higher interest that is considered false.

"He was not given permission to enter the grounds that he applied to college in one of our educational lembada fields not genuine," said a government official told the newspaper.

Abdulmutallab, the son of a rich man in Nigeria, was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday afternoon, in the United States on charges he tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines plane carrying 290 passengers when the plane began to descend for landing, Friday, in Detroit.
