Indonesia reaches Uber Cup quarterfinals

Indonesian Uber Cup team took an unbeatable 3-0 lead over Denmark in their group match on Tuesday to reach the quarterfinals of the women’s badminton team championship now underway in Kuala Lumpur.

Olympic bronze medalist Maria Kristin assured Indonesia of a place in the final eight round with an easy 21-9, 21-6 win over Denmark’s second singles player Karina Jorgensen.

It took Maria 26 minutes to complete the one-sided match, which saw the Indonesian player demonstrate her cross-court strokes for winners.

Adriyanti Firdasari opened the scoring for Indonesia with a 21-11, 21-11 win over Camilla Sorensen, but Indonesian first doubles team of Greysia Polii and Nitya Krishinda Maheswari were made labor before downing Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen 13-21, 21-15, 21-13.
